Reviews | Pagliacci | The Stage | English Touring Opera 2026

"Vocally and dramatically, the performances are outstanding, especially by... Matthew Siveter, who plays Tonio as an unstable charmer rather than the usual unappealing brute."

Reviews | Pagliacci | The Guardian| English Touring Opera 2026

"... and Matthew Siveter fielding some heroic top notes as Tonio"

Reviews | The Gondoliers | The Guardian| English Touring Opera 2026

"Pulling the strings is Matthew Siveter as Don Alhambra del Bolero, the Mephistophelian Grand Inquisitor whose cape deserves an Oscar, as do his deliciously rolling eyeballs."

Reviews | The Gondoliers | The Times | English Touring Opera 2026

“There are tons of laughs... particularly when Matthew Siveter’s brilliant grand inquisitor Don Alhambra is around"

Reviews | The Gondoliers | The Stage | English Touring Opera 2026

Matthew Siveter does a fabulous star turn as a panto villain-ish Grand Inquisitor, gorgeously robed in black and scarlet."

Reviews | The Gondoliers | Northern Arts Review | English Touring Opera 2026

Matthew Siveter’s baritone as Don Alhambra del Bolero was bright and coloured with just a soupçon of smarm. His expression and physicality reminded me more than a little of Rowan Atkinson, as if Blackadder were sneaking in an extra season."

Reviews | The Merry Widow | All Edinburgh Reviews | Scottish Opera 2025

Matthew Siveter and Amy J Payne are a highlight as Mr Kromov, a Russian mobster, and his wife Olga. Vocally, physically, comically, they make the absolute most of every moment they appear”

Reviews | Orpheus in the Underworld | Opera Scene | IF Opera 2025

Matthew Siveter, in the triple role of Mars, John Styx and Bacchus, stole scenes twice over – the dancing dog John Styx’s can-can brought the house down, and as Bacchus he was as cheeky as they come, with some suggestive grape placement for good measure”

Reviews | The Pirates of Penzance | Theatre Reviews North | Buxton Opera House

Matthew Siveter, as the Major-General (in a kind of Boy Scout uniform, to suit the time-warp), has already made his reputation in the G&S field and proved just how with a superbly rapid I am the Very Model patter song”

Reviews | Carmen | Midlands Music Reviews | Longborough Festival Opera

Matthew Siveter [was] an engaging Escamillo, with refreshingly more genial engagement than cliched swagger”
