Soprano

Galina Averina studied at the International Opera School of the Royal College of Music, in London.

Prior to arriving in London, she was a member of the soloists' ensemble at the Perm State Opera Theatre, with roles including Brigitta Iolanta, Frasquita Carmen, Kseniya Boris Godunov, Noemi Cendrillon, Ersilia Le astuzie femminili, and Charmion Cleopatre.

Her other roles include Atalanta Serse, Iphise in Rameau’s Dardanus, Ilia Idomeneo, Lauretta Gianni Schicchi, the title role in Partenope, Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Susanna Le nozze di Figaro and Oscar Un ballo in maschera.

In competition, she was one of the finalists in the prestigious Francisco Viñas Competition at the Liceu in Barcelona, and was awarded the prestigious Audience Prize.  She is also a previous winner of the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers' Competition and took 2nd Prize in the 2016 Handel Competition in London.

In 2020, Galina sang Marzelline Fidelio in concert performances with Garsington Opera and the Philharmonia (also broadcast on BBC Radio 3) and, in summer 2021, she made her role debut as Magda La Rondine for West Green House Opera, alongside a recital of Frauenliebe und -leben for the Lichfield Festival. She also recently sang her first Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro with West Green House Opera and, in spring 2022, created the role of Pasiphae in the world premiere of Michael Zev Gordon’s Raising Icarus with the Barber Institute/Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, as well as concert performances as Phébé in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux, and her role debut as Mimi La bohème on tour with Mid Wales Opera.

Most recently, Galina sang Magda La Rondine to great acclaim for her debut at Opera North, returned to the Barber Institute for performances as Stratonica La forza dell’Amor Paterno, a rare work by baroque composer Antonio Stradella, and made her role debut as Adina L'elisir d'amore for Wild Arts. In concert, she also sang Mozart's Mass in C minor (1st soprano) at the Cadogan Hall in London.

Future plans include Rooker in Sarah Angliss's Giant for the Linbury Theatre/Royal Opera House, Brigitta Iolanta in concert with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra/Kirill Karabits, Alice Ford Falstaff for West Green House Opera and Fiordiligi Così fan tutte at the Mozartfest in Würzburg with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques.

Née à Moscou,  Galina Averina, après son diplôme à l’Académie Russe des Arts du Théâtre, a achevé ses études au sein du programme d’opéra du Royal Colllege of Music à Londres.

Avant son arrivée à Londres, elle a été membre de la troup de l’Opéra de Perm, où elle a chanté, entre autres, Brigitta IolantaFrasquita CarmenXenia Boris GodounovNoemi CendrillonErsilia Le astuzie femminili, et Charmion Cléopâtre.

Ont suivi ses débuts à l’international en 2013 au Festival d’été de Dubrovnik (Cosi fan tutte), et a participé la même année aux Azuriales de Nice, où elle remporté le Prix Haidee Saretski pour les jeunes artistes.

Parmi ses autres rôles, Atalanta SerseIphise DardanusIlia IdomeneoLauretta Gianni Schicchi, le rôle-titre de PartenopePamina La Flûte Enchantée et Oscar Un ballo in maschera ; elle a participé à la Résidence Mozart du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.  Sa voix continunat à évoluer, elle aborde à présent des rôles tels que Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte.

Elle a été finaliste au Concours Francisco Viñas à Barcelone, où elle a remporté le 6ème Prix ainsi que le Prix du public. Ell a également remporté en 2015 la Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers’ Competition, et reçu le 2ème prix au Concours Haendel de Londres en 2016.

En 2020, elle a chanté Marzelline Fidelio à Garsington Opera en Angleterre (un concert également diffusé sur BBC Radio 3), et à l’été 2021, sa toute première Magda La Rondine à West Green House Opera en Angleterre, ainsi que Frauenliebe und Leben au Lichfield Festival.

A l’été 2022, elle a chanté sa première  Comtesse Les Noces de Figaro au West Green House Opera  et en tournée avec le Mid Wales Opera ainsi que ses débuts dans Mimì La Bohème également pour le Mid Wales Opera. Elle a aussi créé Pasiphae Raising Icarus (Michael Zev Gordon)  au Barber Institute/Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.

Et plus récemment, la Messe en Ut mineur de Mozart (1ère soprano) au Cadogan Hall à Londres, un opéra rarement donné de Stradella, La forza dell’Amor Paterno, au Barber Institute à Birmingham,  Adina L’elisir d’amore au Wild Arts Festival et Magda La Rondine pour ses débuts à Opera North. Parmi ses projets, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte au Mozartfest de Wurzbourg avec Christophe Rousset et les Talens Lyriques.
