Galina Averina

Soprano

Galina Averina was born in Russia and is now based in London.  She studied at the Royal College of Music and, prior to arriving in the UK, was a member of the soloists' ensemble at the Perm State Opera Theatre.

Her most recent appearances include Fiordiligi Così fan tutte at the Mozartfest in Würzburg with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, Die Aufseherin Elektra as her debut for the Opéra de Metz, a critically-acclaimed Magda La rondine for her debut at Opera North, Rooker in Sarah Angliss's Giant for the Linbury Theatre at the Royal Ballet and Opera, her debut with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Kirill Karabits as Brigitta Iolanta, Stratonica La forza dell’Amor Paterno, a rare work by baroque composer Antonio Stradella, for the Barber Institute, and role debuts as Tatyana Eugene Onegin Adina L'elisir d'amore for Wild Arts, Rosalinde Die Fledermaus for IF Opera and Contessa Le nozze di Figaro, Magda La rondine and Alice Ford Falstaff for West Green House Opera.

This coming summer, she will sing 1st Lady The Magic Flute at West Green House Opera, before beginning her 26/27 season as Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice in a new production for English Touring Opera.

Galina’s other recent roles include Marzelline Fidelio in concert performances with Garsington Opera and the Philharmonia (also broadcast on BBC Radio 3), Magda La Rondine and Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (both with West Green House Opera), and Mimi La bohème with Mid Wales Opera. She also created the role of Pasiphae in the world premiere of Michael Zev Gordon’s Raising Icarus with the Barber Institute/Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, and has appeared in concert performances as Phébé in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux. Her wide repertoire also includes Atalanta Serse, Iphise in Rameau’s Dardanus, Ilia Idomeneo, the title role in Partenope, Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Susanna Le nozze di Figaro and Oscar Un ballo in maschera, all roles she sang while on contract in Perm.

In concert, she has recently sung Mozart's Mass in C minor (1st soprano) at the Cadogan Hall in London, as well as a recital of Frauenliebe und -leben for the Lichfield Festival in Staffordshire.  In competition, she has been a finalist in the prestigious Francisco Viñas Competition at the Liceu in Barcelona, winning the prestigious Audience Prize, as well as taking home awards from the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers' Competition and Handel Competition in London.

Née à Moscou, la soprano Galina Averina vit à présent à Londres, où elle a achevé ses études au Royal Colllege of Music. Avant son arrivée à Londres, elle avait été membre de la troupe de solistes de l’Opéra de Perm en Russie.

A l'été 2026, elle chantera la Première Dame La Flûte Enchantée au West Green House Opera, avant de commencer sa saison 26-27 avec Euridice Orfeo et Euridice (Gluck) avec l'English Touring Opera (nouvelle produc tion.

Au concert, elle a récemment chanté la Messe en Ut mineur de Mozart (soprano 1) au Cadogan Hall de Londres, ainsi que Frauenliebe und -leben au Lichfield Festival dans le Staffordshire.  Elle s'est distinguée dans plusieurs concours : finaliste au Concours Francisco Viñas au Liceu à Barcelone (où elle a remporté le Prix du public), ainsi qu'à la Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers' Competition et la Handel Competition à Londres.
